Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619secs slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
