From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Planners groups.
Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
